Bill Murphey is the Zweig Group’s Director of Education and serves as a strategic planning consultant. He’s a retired U.S. Force Colonel with over 25 years of experience leading large organizations in operations, strategy development, and logistics. Bill is also an adjunct faculty member in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, where he teaches strategic management and global logistics in the Master of Business Administration degree program.
After earning a bachelors of science degree in marketing from the University of Arkansas, Bill served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft navigator, in the Air Force’s CHECKMATE strategy division, and as the commander of a 900-person operations group. Combined with his practical leadership experience, Bill specializes in growing organizations through leadership development, effective project management, organizational change, and better decision making techniques.
In addition to his marketing degree, Bill holds a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management from The George Washington University, a Master of Arts degree in Military Operational Art & Science from Air University, and a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University.
Bill is a regular contributor The Zweig Letter where he writes about leadership, project management, and continuing education.

Dr. Pehlivan is a geotechnical engineer specializing in earthquake engineering. She is currently working as a geotechnical engineer with CH2M in Seattle, WA. Dr. Pehlivan specializes in the analysis of seismic site response, soil-foundation-structure interaction, probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA), and the seismic design of foundation of structures. She was inspired to build more resilient communities and reduce the risk associated with the earthquakes following the 1999 Kocaeli Earthquake that hit Turkey.
Upon completing her undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, she continued her graduate studies specializing in geotechnical earthquake engineering. She obtained her doctorate from The University of Texas at Austin in 2013 and started working as a consulting engineer in New York City, where she had opportunity to work on seismic design of projects in the US, Mexico, and Canada. During this time she also served as an Adjunct Professor at Manhattan College where she developed and taught seismic portion of a graduate course for practicing engineers on fundamentals of foundation design.
